Local partners. Even if you know how to speak Chinese, it will still be an advantage if you have a business partner who is a local. Aside from his familiarity with the area, you can count on him or them to take charge when you are doing something else.

Part of the readiness required from you is to know what the risks mean and having a plan B in case the one that you are working for fails. This is never easy. Even the seasoned guys in business and planning find this a constant challenge. But if you are willing to take up the challenge and believe in what you are venturing, then you are a go.
