Guidelines For Running Tag Sales Long Island

By Pamela Bailey

People tend to keep a lot of junk as they continue to buy new ones. Most of the unused items can be a nuisance to most homeowners especially when planning to relocate to limited space. Therefore, setting up a garage sale can be the best idea to clear off some of these items. Here are a few tips for establishing tag sales Long Island that one can ponder on.

Decide on your date. Most people prefer holding a tag sale before they move to their new residence. However, there are specific duration that can make better sales compared with others. You should look for a weekend preferably on a Saturday. Avoid holidays or during a significant event in your town since there are chances of getting less attendance.

List all items that you intend to deal with. Create an inventory of all good that you have including those that you do not want to sell. Divide them based on their condition, the placement, and their usage to select them accordingly. Making such a decision will help you sort out the goods accordingly.

Clean the goods you intend to get rid of. Most products that people rarely use tend to be in bad shape. They cannot make any sale if left in such condition. Therefore, you need to clean them to make them good enough to sell. Use the right cleaning technique depending on their material and their situation.

Organize the respective items into different groups. It is quite overwhelming when you have to sort items needed for a tag sale during the sale date. You should start organizing them about two days before the date to make sure that they are in a suitable grouping. Sorting them before the sale will help in counter checking items that do not match up with the required standards and determine their price accordingly.

Use tags to indicate the prices. Tags help clients identify the costs of every good in a garage sale. Ensure that the prices are clear enough and are within the expected price range as well. You can get a lot of information related to the prices on the internet. Conclude on fair prices but quite higher than the normal one to cover the costs that most shoppers will haggle around with.

Make sure that there is enough traffic flow. There must be enough room for every buyer to walk around your setting. Therefore, try keeping all items at the perimeter of your wall to avoid cluttering your tables with too many items. Most shoppers tend to take time evaluating the items and can end up holding everyone else when there is inadequate space.

Check with the local authorities. Most authorities have established policies that determine how local auctions will go on. In that case, reach out to the respective authorities to confirm what they expect from you. Reach out to the authorities in about three to four weeks before your date to make necessary preparation that the authorities expect.
